Stedelijk Museum

Innovation, modern art and contemporary art are perfect keywords to shape your expectations on the Stedelijk Museum also know as simply Stedelijk. The new building (2012) which is connected to the historical building (1895) is a perfect reflection of the collection; modern, open, smooth and light. As big as the contrast is between the two buildings is from the outside, the similarities are to be found on the inside. The architect put major efforts in making a flawless connection between the buildings on the inside. In fact many visitors don’t even notice the transition from building to building. The collection of the museum is updated on a regular base, but expect to find modern arts from artists such as Karel Appel. Besides paintings there’s room for art in any form; photo’s, furniture and more.
